Another great year at the 2012 Epic Rides Kona 24 Hour Mountain Bike Race in the Old Pueblo. Big shout out to Todd Sadow, staff, volunteers team crew and support for putting on a great event.

This past weekend we competed in a 24 hour mountain bike race as a part of our 1st 90 day challenge in 2012. What a great weekend!

Mimi road on a 4 person team, 3 guys and a chick, with a friend that I grew up with and lived next door all of my childhood life named Jim Greer. It was great to see Jim and his brother Chris Greer. Jim has been on ViSalus for the past month and committed to losing weight and getting fit. Prior to the event Jim lost 20 pounds and is on a mission to get back to his high school weight of 170 pounds. Great job Jim!

I was riding in the corporate division with a great group of guys on team Area 51. Every year we go head-to-head with a bunch of great teams and it always comes down to the last lap. After 24 hours of racing we took 1st place! Great job to Team Hosie Cow Cirrus for pushing us to the limit. As you can see from the results it was a battle in the desert… Results

Hey Dan Taylor if you are reading this thanks for bringing your rig out and crewing for us. Dan was the man! Your midnight message before my 2 AM night lap did wonders for my legs.

The first of the year we put together a 90 day challenge for our self and one of the things on our list is to compete in the 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo Mountain bike race.

24 Hours in the Old Pueblo is a mountain bike race where individuals or teams race their mountain bikes for a non-stop 24 hr period. The race stars at 12 PM on Saturday February 18th and ends at 12 PM on Sunday February 19th – 2012.

This morning we left the house at 4:30 AM to drive out to the course to do 3 laps with some team mates. The first lap we did was in the dark so we could make sure our light equipment was working and get the eyes and reflexes trained for night riding so come race day we can hammer out those night laps.

It’s nice to tie your challenge to an event to help reach your goals!

We just completed our 1st 90 day challenge with huge success! It is amazing what you can do if you write your goals down, share them with others and commit to making it happen.

Below are the links to recap:

It is time to set some goals to start 2012 with a bang and begin our next 90 day challenge.

Over the next 90 days (Jan-March 2012) we are going to challenge ourselves to accomplish some goals and will be posting our results as we go.

These goals are all geared towards bettering our overall health and fitness while helping others reach their health goals as well.

When you have a goal and you share your goals with others you are much more likely to accomplish your goals because there is an accountability aspect that others hold you to. I went to an Anthony Robbins seminar in my mid 20′s and one thing Anthony Robbins said if you want to reach your goals right down your goals on a business card and hand out to 10 people that will hold you accountable. So if you want to get something done tell everyone so there is NO way you will not follow through on your word.

Below is a list of our 90 Day Challenge goals:

1. Mimi to compete in Ironman 70.3 Oceanside Triathlon. The goal is to have fun, train and race hard, and possibly qualify for Ironman Hawaii 2012.   Done

2. Mimi is determined to work on her core, mid section and abs and get six pack abs and document her progress. (work in progress. six pack is coming along)

3. Tyler to race in the 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo mountain bike race with team and compete for the win.   (Done: Click Here)

4. Day hike from the South rim of the Grand Canyon down to Havasupai falls and back. Total trek of about 20 miles. (this one did not happen. got way to buys sharing ViSalus with others. on the list for our next 90 day challenge)

5. Help 25 people earn FREE BMW  (Done: Click Here)

6. Help 20 people or more get started on 90 Day Challenge to lose 5 pounds or more.   (Done: losing track of all the weight loss stories)

29th El Tour De Tucson 2011 was this weekend which is the largest one day cycling event in the US in Tucson, Arizona. People come from all over the world to enjoy the one day event in sunny Tucson, Arizona. This years event was the 2nd largest attendence since the beginning of the race 29 years ago.

We set out on a 90 day challenge of setting some goals of some things we wanted to accomplish and riding El Tour De Tucson on our tandem bike was an item on our 90 day challenge list.

It is amazing what one can accomplish by setting some goals and making them public. There were a few things on our list that we probably would have not done had it not been for putting together this challenge for ourselves. El Tour De Tucson being one of them. We debated on doing the race but since we made the commitment we did it. We waited to the last minute and signed up at 7 PM the night before the race with the thoughts of having fun, being safe, and finishing strong.

We ended up getting 2nd place overall tandem just getting nudged out of 1st place by two seconds to Paul Thomas and Noreen Carey a local husband and wife team. Great job to Paul and Noreen!

Also a big thanks to Richard DeBernardis the founder and race promoter of the PBAA events which includes El Tour De Tucson. Richard does so much for the Tucson community and without Richard Tucson would not be the community it is. Also a big thanks to all the volunteers, police officer support, crew support out there, and my brother Cole for providing wheel support and a feed at the 2nd river crossing. Nice to see the community come together for this event!

This years race had a couple cool retired professional athletes riding the race. Ex NBA star Bill Walton and major league baseball player Barry Bonds disputed home run king were out there riding strong.
