Pictured above Area 51 Audio on the podium for 1st place. Great job team!
This past weekend was the 24 Hours in the Old Pueblo Mountain Bike race which is put on by a friend of mine Todd Sadow. Great job Todd putting on an awesome well run and organized race.
The 24 hour race is exactly that; the race starts at 12 noon on Saturday and ends at 12 noon on Sunday and yes you race through the night. You race around a 17 mile course. There are solo riders that do the whole thing non-stop and there are teams that take turns. So by Sunday you are running off of little or no sleep and have lived off of bars, gels, fluids and for me plenty of Verve to stay alert during my 1 AM lap.
I was invited to race with Area 51 Audio in the corporate division a few days prior to the race. My brother, Garrett Ford, had to bail out and I took his spot. So I need to thank my brother for not doing the race.
The 24 hour race is a lot like your Vemma business and teaches you those lessons in life:
- Don’t Quit!
- Steady consistent effort over time gets results.
- Stay strong and positive; Attitude is everything!
- Competition is good; stay friendly with your competition!
Our team Area 51 Audio had a few major obstacles to overcome. Before the race started our best rider, Steven Beeler, cashed while warming up and cut his chin really bad and tour up his hand which put him out of the race. So before the race even began we were down one person and out our best rider. The team pulled together and made a few adjustments to the rider rotation. Throughout the race we battled with team Hosie Cow and went back and forth for the lead. The race come down to the last lap 24 hours latter and we pulled out the victory by only 9 minutes.
A big thanks goes out to Ywaine Klix for getting our camp site all set up.
Team Hosie Cow Cirrus Visual, the team we battled back and forth, thanks for a friendly weekend of competition. Also thanks for allowing Mimi and I to be a sponsor of your team. Below is the back of their cycling jersey that we were a sponsor of for the event.
