Dr. Paul Jernigan Success Story

Success is really about 100% communication!

Dr. Paul Jernigan came to Vemma with a literal kind of perfect vision. As a successful eye doctor in Kansas City, “Dr. Paul,” as he is affectionately known, practiced optometry for eight years, but recently retired to do Vemma / Verve full time. “ I really have a passion for working with people,” Dr. Paul says, “and now with Vemma, the passion goes up a notch. Life is short, you’ve got to do what you want to do!”

First attracted to Vemma because of the product’s  research and development, Dr. Paul became a believer when his mother began to see a difference in anti-inflammatory results after taking Vemma. “I never planned to make it a business, but then it happened after seeing my mother’s health improve so much.”

For Dr. Paul, the number one key to success is a positive mindset and intent on a daily basis. “No one can achieve that mindset without investing personal development,” Dr. Paul believes, “So you have to first believe in yourself. Also, the passion behind what I do is something that people pick up on and want to be part of.”  Taking care of other people means taking care of oneself, so it’s important for Dr. Paul to keep a healthy mind and body. “I’ve always been into health and wellness and nutrition, but never in the athletic side…but over the last year I’ve taken an interest in fitness and uping my game. My family is riddled with auto-immune deficiencies, so I run every day and give my body the proper tools to keep me running.” The biggest gift in taking care of oneself is something Dr Paul sees everyday in his Vemma life. “Part of taking care of me is that I can be energetic and give back to people.”

Dr. Paul and his partner, Rex Davis, use the Roadmap to Success to help reach their goals “Tried and true!” Dr. Paul says of the Roadmap. “About 6 monts ago, we hit a plateau. We could only grow as far as I could reach, but then I learned I can’t help anyone with long term success unless there is a system to move their business forward. Since we embraced the Roadmap, our organization started growing again. The coaching and the mentor-ship and teaching communication skills with people is the system we use in getting people where they want to be.”

Despite his knack for people, health and well-being, Dr Paul never considered himself a sales person. “ In my mind, I hate ‘sales’! As an eye doctor, I loved what I did but what I loved was the relationship with people. It isn’t about sales, it is about connecting with people and having a passion for something. The gratification comes from helping and connecting with people, and that is so much more rewarding that being an eye doctor ever was. The whole medical thing was almost a diversion! It’s the communication that makes life go round.” With such a zest for life, Dr. Paul and Rex have found that giving back and embracing life are part of their daily routine. “We have a lot of ambitions in life and Vemma is one of the vehicles that will help us get there!

As for advice to new Vemma partners, Dr. Paul knows that everyone has their own learning curve. “The number one thing is to work on yourself, so you understand it is not about you, it is about other people and the timing of their lives and what they want out of Vemma. You have to find like-minded people! Work on yourself so you can learn to connect with others. Success is really about 100% communication. If you’re not likeable, you’re going to have to work on it!”
