Dennis Ligon Success Story
Keep Swinging The Bat!
By Kathryn Bertine
For Dennis Ligon, joining Vemma was almost inevitable. Health, fitness and sports have always been a way of life, as has business and marketing. Dennis, who owns thirteen tanning salons in the Virginia Beach, VA area, knows that a body needs the right vitamins and minerals both inside and out in order to flourish. When he joined Vemma in 2008 after stumbling across the company on the Web, it was a perfect the blend of wellness and business.
“I’ve always been interested in advertising and marketing, and I love how Vemma has an easy entry into its program,” Dennis says. ”With some companies, you need to invest thousands right off the bat. But with Vemma, if you have $100, you can get into the game. It is open to everyone. You can make as much money as your effort, time and talents allow.”
Dennis bases his motivation and success with Vemma on the principles he’s learned from coaching his son’s and daughter’s little league sports.
“The key is to keep swinging. Sometimes you strike out, sometimes you walk, but when you finally hit that ball you realize it was worth everything to make that connection.” While it may be hard for some people to get out of their comfort zone when it comes to sales, Dennis isn’t held back by the fear of people saying no. “If you have enthusiasm and you get out and talk to people, the sky’s the limit!”
When it comes to advice for new Vemma partners, Dennis believes the key to success lies in asking the right questions.
“Always lean on your up-line, on the people who bring you into the business. Learn from them, but don’t try to learn it all on the first day. And don’t try to re-invent the wheel! Get to know the product and the sales structure that works. Put yourself out there and introduce yourself. What sealed the deal for me was being in touch with Ruth Elliott, who has made over $2M. Not only was I in the business, but I was connected to the right people. I was pumped and excited!”
With three new tanning salons opening this year and a distributing Vemma full time, Dennis also finds time and relaxation in coaching his children’s sports teams, singing in the church choir, and riding his bike though his Virginia Beach neighborhood.
