Three years ago we were green to network marketing. We have made just about every mistake you can imagine and I am sure we will make plenty more. The more times you fail the quicker you learn and the faster you will succeed.

One of the big mistakes we made early on is trying to turn consumers into builders who had no interest in building a down line although they loved the product. The problem with this is we chased some people away that would have continued to consume Vemma but they did not want us bugging them about the opportunity.

We quickly learned to recognized those that wanted to consume a great product and did not bug them about the business side of Vemma. We did educate them about Vemma and the many benefits of taking 2 oz a day. We have people that have been on auto-delivery since day one and have never enrolled one person. This business is all about volume and consumers are just as important as builders.

Everyone’s clock dial is set different and will change over time. The key is to find people who are at high noon. The more twelve o’clock people you find the faster you will build. The key is asking good questions to find out if someone is at three o’clock, six o’clock, nine o’clock or twelve o’clock. If someone is at anything other than high noon it does not mean that you don’t introduce them to Vemma and get them on the product it just means that the timing to build may not be right for them now.

Your goal is to talk to enough people so you find people at high noon and ready for change!

Three O’Clock: Something has changed in your prospect’s life but they have not shared it with anyone yet. Their family does not even know. Maybe they have more debt than the other spouse knows or something has changed at their job. From the outside looking in everything looks the same.

Six O’Clock: Your prospect has now shared their changes with a select group of people outside of work and everyone knows at work that a job situation has or is about to change. This person still has their job but is in denial that things are about to change. They still have their car, are still in the house and are still living the same lifestyle. This was us when the real estate and mortgage industry plummeted in June – July 2007.

Nine O’Clock: Everyone now knows. Your prospect is beginning to come to terms that they need to make some changes financially. They either fight and look for opportunity or crawl into a hole. This is where we made some major changes. We sold our dream home, payed off debt, and reduced our living expenses.

High Noon: Your prospect is totally ready for an opportunity. Ready for change? Ready for something new? Ready for a lifestyle change? Ready to take control of their life? They are ready! These are the people you want to find. We were at high noon three years ago when Annie Black presented us with Vemma. We are thankful that Annie Black did.

Don’t try and turn people that are at three o’clock into high noon. Be patient with them so you don’t scare them off. If you talk to enough people you will find the high nooners. People will never fall off your prospect list because you will just keep waiting. The second time you talk to them they may be at six o’clock. Just be patient! Soon they will be at high noon.

If all else fails just get them on a great product and have a positive impact on their health!

Comparing yourself to others success and results is a dangerous thing and can hurt your career in network marketing. If you compare yourself to others in network marketing it can be very discouraging. Everyone has their own journey in unlocking the key to success in network marketing.

If a person is taking off and going crazy and you are not and you compare yourself to them it can be deadly. Everyone is on their own path and for some it takes longer than others.

The best stories in network marketing are not the over night successes but the stories of those that took some time to achieve success. The stories of the people that took some time to building success in network marketing are the most compelling stories to tell.

It is always nice to tell the stories of the top producers who are making over a million dollars a year but comparing yourself to a 7 figure income earner can be deadly and discouraging. These types of incomes take time and what you don’t see is all the work that went into their success.

In conclusion, be yourself on your own journey and don’t compare yourself to others success and results in network marketing.

The Race Is Not Always To The Swift… But To Those Who Keep On Running!

QFTP (Question For The Post): What is your favorite success story of someone in network marketing that was NOT an overnight success but kept plugging away on their own path to success?

There are 5 core pillars in network marketing and the better you become at each of the pillars the more successful you will be.

There are 6 core pillars in network marketing and the better you become at each of the pillars the more successful you will be. We are always working on improving our skill set in each of the 6 pillars.

1. Prospecting – Prospecting is key. The more you prospect the better you get. NO is the key to prospecting. Get good at getting NO’s and not letting a NO bother you is the mindset of a successful network marketing professional. The more NO’s you get, the more YESES you will get. We make it a goal to talk to 2 people a day 5 days a week. For a great video on the “2 a day philosophy” click here.

2. Follow Up – Following up is difficult for most people including us. It is not that following up is hard to do most people feel uncomfortable doing it. In order to be effective at the follow up it is very important to be organized and keep good notes as to what the “last result’ was. Keeping a calendar with alerts is key to an effective follow up system that will get results. If you follow up with people you have prospected your enrollments will double guaranteed. It takes persistence of 2 to 6 follow up calls to finally get a definite YES or NO. When you get a NO it just means NOT NOW. I can’t tell you how many NO’s we have had where 6 to 12 months later we get a YES from the same person that told us NO. Do this one thing and your business will explode!

3. Power Down - Power Down is defined as working with people in your down-line that are taking action regardless of who the enroller is. When Powering Down take a look at your genealogy in your Vemma back office and find those that are building both sides of their organization the left and right. You are responsible for forming a working partnership and setting brand partners up for success regardless of who the enroller is. Go where the heat is and get them connected with other upline leaders and plugged in to the Vemma Action Plan System. For a good blog post on the subject of powering down click here.

4. Recognition – At the end of the day people want to be recognized for their efforts. This is one area we really need to work on. We do recognize but could definitely get better at it. With Vemma’s new Back Office Pro and the alerts that can be set up, recognizing brand partners who have recently rank advanced is now easy to do. Put a plan in place were you recognize members on your success team; it is a very important pillar to your success!

5. Leadership – Leadership is about helping others succeed. It’s about working with your team for a bigger cause. When you truly care about other people and a bigger cause people will want to follow.

6. Personal Development – One of our favorite quotes by Jim Rohn is, “For things to change you have to change, for things to get better you have to get better.” This so true! The more you work on you and a proper mind set the more successful you will be in all areas of your life.

Question For The Post (QFTP): What is your most challenging pillar and what pillar are you the best at?
